Jevan was a noble in Uoswor household. However, he was forced to flee when much of his family were slaughtered by rival houses.

His motivation for traveling on the surface world  in search of adventure was said to be "power", upon learning the location of the monastery of the Dark Ravens, where assassins were hidden. He stormed this monastery and found its archimandrite, Drakzen Direhand. After killing Drakzen, he took the secret scrolls the monastery guarded, allowing him access to greater power.
